From Accra to Astana: Youth Recommendations for the India AI Impact Summit

Thank you to everyone who joined our event last weekend!

We were absolutely thrilled to see more than 230 registrations and welcome 130 participants who joined us online and from physical hubs in Astana, Ankara, Montreal, and Accra, hosted by the international chapters of Encode.

Our Mission

Our goal was simple but urgent: to bring together youth from diverse backgrounds to discuss how AI will reshape labor markets and the Global South.

As the India AI Impact Summit begins tomorrow, we are sharing the formal recommendations that emerged from our global youth discussions. We hope leaders will carry these perspectives into the summit and beyond.

Key Recommendations from the Encode Community

  1. Fortify Local AI Governance Capacity Invest in technical expertise, open data access, and audit mechanisms. We must ensure accountable AI deployment that truly reflects specific community needs rather than a "one-size-fits-all" approach.
  2. Implement Risk Scanning and Response Establish standing horizon-scanning units, cross-border reporting channels, and independent impact assessments throughout the entire AI lifecycle to catch unintended consequences early.
  3. Build Agile Regulatory Approaches The tech moves fast; the law must be flexible. We advocate for sunset clauses, automated compliance tools, and clear documentation requirements to ensure governance keeps pace with AI’s rapid evolution.
