Think of action weeks as sprints on AI Safety that build upon each other. We give the African diaspora introductory but highly valuable insights on specific themes relevant to AI Safety. Participants complete projects and activities (actions) during each week, with the most consistent participants earning spots in the AI Safety Essentials Fellowship.

The AI Safety discourse often feels distant from African communities. This fellowship serves as a vital starting point for Africans to gain clarity, explore diverse AI Safety subfields, and identify concrete pathways to contribute to shaping safe and beneficial AI for the continent and the world.

Encode Africa has built its reputation through grassroots workshops across Africa. To ensure organizers have the most impact, we're making organizing circles more impact-driven and specific to AI Safety dialogue while building career capital.
